Religion and Women
I was born into the Roman Catholic religion and my own culture has a lot to do with my believes. For me it was normal growing up to seeing men as priests and for women to nuns. When I realized that there were a couple of religions would let the women be their leader there was a sense of confusion but at the same time I don’t disagree. I would learn by time that there were some nuns who would want to be leaders but couldn’t because it was only a man who could be the priest. When I found out I was a disappointed that such a wonderful thing as religion would interfere that way. If other people see how even what they believe in can get in the way of equality for women why should they be any different. Even though my religion is very important to me I still have some things that i disagree with, with all respect.
Decolonization
Decolonization is the process in which a colony becomes independent. Of course it is not good to reject everything from a colonial ancestry but at times it is for the best. If some countries want to become independent based on religion or economic reasons it will depend on what the “majority of the people” think. The result of the decolonization is based on if the people there want to follow or want to have their own ideas, believes, and become independent in every way. The colonies have to be strong in every way in order to make a decision like this and fight for what they believe and an example of this is Jamaica.
What makes argument by Pathos successful?
We all know that the easiest way to get someone to agree is by getting through with sympathy, empathy, and pathetic. Pathos can be used to get someone to be in your shoes and sympathize with you and feel what you feel. So going about this and bringing your points through with emotions makes people sensitive side out and are very vulnerable to just agree. People may agree because it is too emotional to talk about it and argue; therefore the way you may want to start arguments and to get people to agree would be to talk about what other people are afraid to mention and bring out some emotional facts.
Thesis Statement: Holocaust
“As the Nobel laureate Elie Wiesel warned years ago, to forget a holocaust is to kill twice” (Iris Chang). Until this day some people think that the Holocaust was not as harsh and painful as the Jews say it was and those who are in denial are ignoring the fact are pretending that it didn’t happen.
The International Monetary Fund and its influences
The International Monetary Fund is an organization that helps countries with international trade, employment growth, and other things to be financially stable. Some people think that the IMF does this by trying to reduce poverty around the world, but others think that it gets countries into more debt. The IMF has departments to carry out its own country, policy and technical work and that created jobs for thousands of people. It also states that its fundamental mission is to ensure stability in the international system and it accomplishes this by keeping track of the economy of member countries, lending the countries, and giving practical help to the members. As all of this may sound like a big help to the member countries, other people disagree because when its is time for the countries to pay they may struggle because the debt tends to be high and the one of the main solutions is that the people living there have to work a lot harder to help with the debt. I believe that this is a positive thing that has to be handle with responsibility. i\It has to be dealt with a limit in mind of how much you are willing to pay back or is affordable for the country so they do not struggle later in life.
Is America Falling Behind?
I think America is falling behind in many different ways. Technology is the one that caught my eye. I thought we were very advanced compared to other countries when it comes to technology but lately when i look up what other countries have done, like China, I would have to disagree. In China people are building robots and have some really advanced technology and even though I-pods changed the world and now that the creator is no longer with us; what will happen to our technology and inventions. Besides that the job opportunities that made our economy very strong are decreasing. There are a lot more requirements now when you apply somewhere over the silliest things like having a Facebook account. The way we think now makes it harder for us to continue building up America.
A Reliable Media
Back in the 90’s the most reliable source would’ve been the books and maybe not too long I would have said the internet. Now i can honestly say that You can’t trust just any source, there isn’t one. In order for you to trust the internet, to a limit, you have to make sure that it comes from the government, organization, or that it is educational. I say to a limit because there are filters and it changes what you see and read. Other people are able to add or change anything that they want; therefore, you can’t trust in other people’s opinions so no media is reliable. In order to do a research you have to look into different sites, compare and come to your own conclusion.
Richest Country
I believe that China will one day the richest country since technology wise they are very advanced. The population there is pretty big for now but still after all that they are all able to survive with very little money. Their technology is very advance; therefore i wouldn’t be surprised if that takes them to improve in the economy. If we don’t save up our economy will one day be one of the lowest because almost everyone is debt right now. So I say get a piggy bank and start saving! :)
How we view the “American Culture”
To begin with when i was little I came to this country without any knowledge. When i first arrived one week turned into years and I had to learn a new culture and a new language. It was hard realizing that there were people speaking in a different language and they looked different. As a child my ignorance led me to realize that this was not normal. When i attended school I noticed that the sounds of the letters were different and that I didn’t blend in. Everything seemed so confusing to me the first year. I had to celebrate things I didn’t even know about as well. Halloween for me was one of those drastic changes that I had to accommodate to. In Mexico we celebrate the death and in here people would dress up and change the complete meaning of it. Christmas was different as well since Santa Claus would be the symbol of Christmas and in Mexico there were different celebrations,it was hard for my parents to explain this to my brothers and I. As i grew the American celebrations and their cultures became mine. Yet I celebrate my Mexican Cultures and mix both i can actually say that I am glad I came here because who I am today.
Global Concern: Drunk Driving
One of my main concerns has always been driving under the influence. When i was little my family and I were involved in Car accident where fortunately we only had a couple of bruises. On the other hand the driver of the other vehicle was taken to the hospital but was arrested, had to pay a fine, and had to go to court. His decision affected six other people besides himself and that is something the no one thinks about. Until this day I see in the news/newspapers articles about drunk drivers who take lives and turns them into another statistic. Children, mothers, sisters, nieces, brothers, sons, fathers they all mean something special to someone but when the their life is taken to become just one more number. As I get older and turn 21 I realize that the responsibility is also on me. I now have the choice to make the right decision and be above the influence. Besides the fact that getting a DUI, getting my drivers license taken away from could be the result from that i see that there are even bigger consequences. I get a lot of my information from a couple of different sources and I include some to educate other about making responsible decisions maybe taking a ca, having a designated driver, or not drinking.
